GoPro Hero 10 Black Review: An iterative update worth your buck

The all-new GoPro Hero 10 Black is the successor of the mighty GoPro Hero 9. The brand new iteration of the best action camera in the game is back, but is it any better? The GoPro Hero 10 does justice to the term successor and is more of a refinement that does everything the Hero 9 can, but only with a lot more finesse.

The overall design is the same as the last iteration (except for the bright blue branding), so is the battery, the lens mount, the size of the rear, and the front display. The GoPro Hero 10 is the most powerful camera in the Hero lineup, thanks to the all-new GP2 processor. It’s not a radical improvement over the last-gen processor.

Nevertheless, it now allows you to shoot at newer frame rates and resolutions. The GoPro Hero 10 mp digital camera can shoot up to 4k/120p and 2.7k/240p. Features that make the GoPro Hero 10 Black unique

• The GP2 SoC is the first processor update to the GoPro Hero series since the Hero 6. Therefore, the performance of the GoPro Hero 10 Black has seen significant improvements. Here are the resolutions and framerates the Hero 10 Black supports.

Hero 10 GoPro features & usability

Design and display

 The GoPro Hero 10 is almost similar to its predecessor in terms of design. The only noticeable physical difference you see on the camera is the logo print, and some of the plastic pannings are black instead of grey. The new Hero 10 GoPro shows off its logo in a brand new blue hue, whereas the Hero 9 has the same logo in grey.

The Hero 10 is also slightly lower at 153g than the Hero 9, weighing in at 158g. Performance

The GP2 chipset gives a considerable boost to the GoPro Hero 10’s performance. The interface is much more smooth and the menu interaction is much crisper. The speed boost is seen even while shooting. For example, HDR pictures are captured and saved a lot faster in the Hero 10 GoPro. Additionally, the action camera supports faster wired and wireless transfer speeds.

The video quality of GoPro Hero 10 Black has shifted from a slightly-saturated look to a more natural color correction. You can shoot up to 240 fps slow-mo and shoot at up to 5.3k at 60 fps for cinematic shots. The camera is capable of shooting images at 23.6 MP and capturing still shots at 19MP.

Battery life

The GoPro Hero 10 Black comes with the same 1,720 mAh battery as the Hero 9. Therefore, since the chipset is more powerful, the battery drains out comparatively quicker. It’s always advisable to carry spare batteries. The camera might also be prone to overheating if used to shoot for a very long time at a very high resolution.
