Ficci sets up industry task force on safety of women
In view of its concern over the growing insecurity of women in the country, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (Ficci) and Ficci Ladies Organisation (FLO) have decided to set up an industry task force on Safety of women.
There are over 31% economically active women in India’s workforce.
In a press statement, Ficci said, the Ficci-FLO task force would endeavour to address the growing insecurities of women. It would look into: developing a national safety policy for women to be adopted by industry; holistically review the existing set up; envisioning a safe environment for women by sensitising the various agencies involved, be it infrastructure related, police, and other civic as well as decision makers.
The organisation would also conduct actionable research on concerns of women; establish a conceptual and workable framework for delivery and safety within the philosophy, goals, aims and objectives of the task force. This would lead to fast tracking decision making and implementation; bringing out and define realistic targets which have elements with specific indicators on women safety and make a proposal for a way ahead by recommendations – with time scales which can be used to monitor progress towards attainment of these targets.
