The Series X is capable of displaying games at 8K resolution, which is four times the resolution of 4K. This results in a much more detailed and sharp image. It also supports HDR, which is a technique that expands the range of colors and brightness that can be displayed on the screen. This results in more vibrant and lifelike colors.

To ensure your device is achieving optimal airflow, we recommend placing the unit in an open area without any obstructions to the top and back inlets and outlets. If you want to place the device in the entertainment set, then place it in an unrestricted space. Do not place it behind a closed door if possible.
For a standard, non-enclosed media entertainment stand, ensure at least 1.5 inches (approximately 4 cm) of clearance from the top of the console in either vertical or horizontal alignment. We recommend having 4-6 inches (approximately 10-15 cm) of clearance on all sides.

Absolutely amazing, it’s hard to believe MS could get all that power into such a small case, as for noise there is no noise it’s as good as silent, the graphics are outstanding as are the framerates and load times, the backward compatibile runs superb with old games looking and running much better they can even have HDR where there was none before. You can use external USB 3 drives to store and run your backward compatibile games as well as store and move Xbox Series X games rather than having them all on the internal drive.
The Quick resume is brilliant, just add the games you want onto the SSD and they load in almost instantly, the great thing about this is you can turn off or even unplug the console but the games will still be there ready to play from where you left off even days later.
MS now have a huge amount of Xbox Game Studios and they will soon be releasing very big AAA games.
Then there is the excellent value Gamepass Ultimate which now includes Xbox Gamepass, PC Gamepass, Cloud Game streaming, Xbox Live Gold and EA Play.
The console is amazing value for what you get for the money, a must buy.

“Packaged as if it was an apple product” was my first thoughts when opening the box, really well presented.

Aesthetically it’s somewhat smaller than I anticipated and looks less offensive in its vertical and intended position, however as with most day one consoles the series x isn’t without its minor bugs which will no doubt be patched in due course, however as a next-gen unit it really is a significant jump in quality and capabilities compared to previous iterations, I don’t know how I functioned without a quick resume and super quick load times, genuinely could not go back to the One X! Tested a good few BC games and everything looks polished as you’d expect, time will tell on whether MS investments in games studios bear fruit for exclusives and genuine next-gen games but from day one offerings I am fairly confident my money has been spent wisely.

Game pass is forever evolving and only adds to the value of the new hardware on offer.

MS have actually turned a corner here and not only returned to “consumer friendly” territory but they’ve released a worthy replacement for anyone who upgrades.

What can I say having not had an Xbox since the 360 days and being a PS man was a little unsure buying this but have definitely not regretted buying it since deciding I want one and managing to snag one from a limited stock drop.

It’s well made/designed and resembles a small form PC more than a console, it’s a matte black and sits in well on a PC desk like my own which is pretty much entirely black and doesn’t look out of place on a TV setup. When using the fan is extremely quiet and hasn’t really ramped up as of yet although it kicks out a fair amount of heat.

Having had a PS4 Pro that sounds like a jet engine, having anything that is quiet is a blessing but being as silent as this is nothing short of amazing. I also like the new controller, feels a little smaller maybe than the Xbox One/X controller and the textured back and grips make it feel more comfortable in your hand and obviously gives more of a grip which is perfect.

Only gripe is the lack of optical out on the console which is an oversight really as a lot of old headsets use this port and now via HDMI they are very subpar barring some of the new headsets which use dongles instead.
