Compact and Streamlined Cinematic Capture
The Sony FX3A is a compact camera that combines elements of the Cinema Line and Alpha series to produce a portable cinema camera that is suited for solo shooters, travel, or as a backup camera. All of the imaging features you would anticipate from this class are present in the FX3A, but it also has a new lightweight, handheld form factor, a sleek profile, and a “cage-free” design that allows you to attach a variety of accessories straight to the camera body.

Stunning UHD 4K Video Recording
When combined with a BIONZ XR processor, the FX3A’s 12.1MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor (10.2MP effective in video mode) allows for UHD 4K video capture with either 16-bit raw output or internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling. With a dynamic range of more than 15 stops and an expanded ISO 80-409,600 range, the sensor’s BSI architecture enhances sensitivity and clarity even in mixed lighting circumstances. In addition to supporting the S-Log3/2 gamut and 10-bit HLG for basic HDR productions, the S-Cinetone mode offers color and tonal management and can be utilized for matching to VENICE, FX9, or FX6 sources. Additionally, the sensor’s design integrates a Fast Hybrid AF system for intelligent and rapid focusing, and the sensor and CPU collaborate to significantly eliminate rolling shutter.
CMOS Exmor R Full-Frame 4K Sensor
With 10.2MP effective video and 12.1MP still capture, the FX3A offers a true cinematic experience with to its 12.1MP Exmor R sensor and BIONZ XR processor. The full-frame sensor reduces rolling shutter glitches, produces striking bokeh, and produces shallow depth of field effects. With a basic sensitivity of 80-102,400 that rises to a stratospheric 409,600 for remarkable low-light capture, and more than 15 stops of dynamic range, there is ample room for color grading to capture the subtleties of both beautifully lit interior scenes and breathtaking exteriors.

The FX3A’s default S-Cinetone color option produces stunning skin tone replication and a softer-toned appearance that goes well with your VENICE, FX9, or FX6 video. While HLG HDR offers the option of direct HLG playback without the requirement for grading, S-Log-3, S-Gamut3, S-Gamut3.Cine, and 10-bit 4:2:2 support aid in maintaining rich gradation and color matching with the range of Sony Cinema Line cameras.
Recording Videos
At up to 4K 120p, you can capture crisp, clear photos with up to 5x slow motion at 24p output. Among the recording possibilities are the ability to concurrently record XAVC 4K and proxies in-camera and output DCI 4K+ in 16-bit raw over HDMI to compatible recorders. 4:2:2 10-bit color with All-Intra and Long GOP codecs are among the internal 4K recording possibilities.
Form for Ergonomics in Solo Operation
Because to the FX3A’s cage-free design, you may install ¼”-20 compatible accessories directly on the camera or the detachable handle, eliminating the need for a camera cage and its associated weight and setup/breakdown time. Six assignable buttons, focus and menu controls, and a clustered record button all contribute to single-handed handling, freeing up your left hand for lens control or balance.
LCD Touchscreen Tilting
With a sharp 2.35MP resolution, the fold-out 3-inch touchscreen LCD may be positioned differently for the best viewing experience.
Tally lights that are easy to see
The operator, talent, and sound person can determine exactly when the camera is shooting thanks to top, front, and rear tally indications.
This makes it possible to communicate conversation and movements more precisely.
