Laser Falcon Methane Detector
The Laser Falcon is engineered to detect methane exclusively, ensuring highly accurate readings with zero false alarms from other gases. Its Class 3R eye-safe laser makes it safe and reliable for field operations.
Using advanced Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy, the device emits laser light at 1.65 μm, which reflects off surfaces and returns to the sensor. The system compares the outgoing and incoming signals using a built-in reference cell. When methane is present along the laser path, part of the light is absorbed. A smart algorithm then calculates the methane concentration in ppm×m (parts per million multiplied by meter). These measurements are sent instantly to the drone pilot’s remote controller (RC) and directly into UgCS software for real-time monitoring.
The Laser Falcon comes in a compact transport box measuring 210 × 210 × 150 mm and weighing just 1 kg, making it easy to carry and deploy.
To operate this sensor with drones, you’ll need additional components and compatible software, so ordering a complete kit is strongly recommended for optimal performance.
For the best results, pair the system with the FT Technologies FT742 wind speed and direction sensor to enhance measurement accuracy.
