Which Unitree humanoid is best for an academic robotics lab?

For most Indian engineering colleges and research labs, the Unitree R1 hits the sweet spot — ~25 kg, 24 DoF, full EDU SDK with Python and C++ examples, friendly enough for student handling. If your curriculum needs the official Edu ladder, the G1 Edu U1–U6 tiers map cleanly to a 6-stage course progression. Step up to base G1 (35 DoF) or H2 only if your research targets industrial-grade locomotion or high-payload manipulation.

What is the difference between Unitree H2, H1 and H1-2?

H2 is the latest flagship (2026) — 180 cm, ~70 kg, 31 DoF, 2070 TOPS computing, advanced motion with OTA updates. The H1 is the previous-generation full-size flagship and remains available for projects that don't need H2-class capability. The H1-2 is the H1 universal variant adding dexterous manipulators, 360° depth perception via 3D LiDAR + depth cameras, and enhanced flexibility for autonomous navigation research. Both H1 variants are still in active demand for brand activations, film & TV production, and demonstrations.

Can I program a Unitree humanoid in Python or ROS?

Yes — Unitree humanoids ship with an open-source SDK supporting Python and C++ examples. ROS2 bindings are available for G1, H1 and H2 platforms. The R1 is also EDU-SDK accessible. xBoom provides initial onboarding and code-walk-through during commissioning, plus paid extension training for teams building custom controllers, RL pipelines or teleoperation stacks.

Do you offer Unitree humanoid rental in India?

Yes — Unitree humanoids are available through our Robots-as-a-Service programme for film & TV production, brand activations, exhibitions, corporate events and short pilot deployments. What support and warranty come with a humanoid purchase?

Every Unitree humanoid sold by xBoom ships with the manufacturer warranty plus the 1-Year xBoom AMC — our exclusive add-on covering parts & labour, on-site visits within India, OTA firmware tracking and a dedicated support engineer. Beyond Year 1, renewable AMC contracts are available. KYC approval is mandatory before dispatch under Indian import + robotics norms.

Can a humanoid integrate voice assistants like Alexa or local LLMs?

Out of the box, Unitree humanoids run their own voice + vision stack. Custom integrations with Alexa, Google Assistant or local LLMs (open-source LLaMA, GPT-4o, Gemini) are possible at the SDK level — our integration team has shipped both for Indian customers. Typical project timeline: 2–6 weeks depending on which dialog-flow, wake-word and on-device inference path you need.

Are Unitree humanoids available outside India through xBoom?

Yes — xBoom serves the GCC region (UAE, Saudi, Oman, Qatar) through our Dubai office at Ontario Tower, Business Bay. Most active markets outside India are hospitality, retail and academic robotics. Cross-border pricing differs from India because of regional import + customs structure; Dubai office handles GCC-side commercial.

Can the Dex5-1 dexterous hand be retrofitted to existing humanoids?

Yes. The Dex5-1 (16 DoF per hand) is sold standalone specifically so research labs can upgrade existing G1, H1 or H2 platforms. It can also be configured at order time on a new build. Integration involves mechanical mounting, CAN / EtherCAT communication-bus wiring, and SDK-level mapping into your existing manipulation stack — our team supports the integration during commissioning.
