SafeSkin — Sensing Before Contact

The SafeSkin sensor system wraps the CR5AS's distal joints (J4, J5, J6 recommended) in a proximity and contact detection layer that monitors the surrounding space continuously at a 0.01 s sensing cycle. The moment a human body, metallic object, or liquid enters the 5–15 cm detection zone, the robot triggers an emergency stop within 0.1 seconds — before any physical collision. This pre-collision architecture allows operators and robots to share the same workspace genuinely, removing the need for full safety fencing in many deployment scenarios.
