Three Types of High-Precision Sensors

Mixed reality on the PICO 4 Ultra is made possible by three kinds of high-precision sensors: four environment tracking cameras, two 32MP color see-through cameras, and one iToF depth-sensing camera.

High Resolution, Low Distortion, Smoother MR

The color see-through view is 8MP, with 22.5 PPD at the center and low distortion. MR frame alignment of up to 72Hz keeps mixed reality running smoothly without interruption. The 72Hz feature is coming in a future OTA update.

Environment Perception

Immersive Mode and AI-Generated Environments

Proprietary real-time environment and object mapping lets the headset understand the space around you. Immersive mode offers hyper-realistic virtual environments, and the AI-generated Environment feature lets you create your own.

PanoScreen Workspace

Multiple Expandable Windows

A 360° screen holds multiple windows at once, and each window can be resized up to 280 inches. Work with an external keyboard and mouse, controllers, or your hands. Keyboard and mouse support is coming in a future OTA update.

PICO Connect App

PC and Mobile Content on Your Headset

Mirror the screens of Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android devices to the headset, and show up to three desktops or home screens at once. Screen mirroring is coming in a future OTA update.

Wi-Fi 7 & PC Streaming

Fast, Low-Latency Wireless

With Wi-Fi 7, transmission speeds exceed 3.0 Gbps and wireless streaming latency can be as low as 5 ms, which is up to 30% lower than previous models.

For PC streaming, the AV1 video codec improves compression, and fragment decoding cuts decoding latency by about 2 ms.

MR games bring play into the space around you.

Spatial Video

Capture, Edit and Watch Spatial Videos

Record spatial video at up to 2048 × 1536 px, 60 FPS, and 50 Mbps. Spatial audio recording is planned for a future update. The dual 32MP HD cameras also give you realistic passthrough.

Apple Device Compatibility

Plays Spatial Videos and Photos From Apple Devices

Spatial videos and photos taken on iPhone and Vision Pro play on the PICO 4 Ultra through hardware MV-HEVC decoding. Files need to be saved to the system folder using the PICO mobile app.

PICO Motion Tracker

Light but Mighty

Each tracker weighs about 27g and has soft, curved pads. The waist tracker is worn together with two ankle trackers for full-body tracking.

The PICO Motion Tracker is not part of the headset's in-the-box contents.

Multi-Modal Fusion Tracking

6DoF Tracking Up to 200Hz

An IMU combined with 12 infrared sensors delivers 6DoF tracking at up to 200Hz, with 24 skeleton points, about 20 ms latency, and step-recognition accuracy of at least 98%.

The display delivers 2160 × 2160 per eye at up to 90Hz, with color correction, 25% higher brightness, and 62% higher rendering resolution than the previous model. Rendering resolution is 1920 × 1920.

Controllers

Ring-Free Controllers

The new controllers have no tracking ring and are about 50% shorter than the previous generation (about 60mm versus 134.7mm). They use Centaur multi-modal tracking and HyperSense haptics.
