What makes it work
DOBOT CR3AS
3 kg Collaborative Robot with SafeSkin Pre-Collision Detection & IP54 Protection — Built for Safe Human-Machine Collaboration in Compact Workspaces
Compact Cobot Built for Human-Safe Collaboration
The DOBOT CR3AS is a 3 kg payload collaborative robot engineered for environments where humans and machines must work in close proximity. Its slim, lightweight body — weighing just 16.5 kg — slides effortlessly into tight production cells, allowing manufacturers to automate without redesigning their floor layout. With a maximum reach of 795 mm and a working radius of 620 mm, the CR3AS covers a practical footprint suited to benchtop and small-cell automation across light manufacturing, electronics assembly, and precision handling tasks.
SafeSkin Technology
Proximity and contact sensing across J4, J5, and J6 joints detects humans, metals, and liquids within a 5–15 cm range and executes an emergency stop in 0.1 seconds — before any collision occurs. Sensing cycle time of 0.01 s ensures near-instantaneous awareness of the surrounding environment.
Precision Motion Across Six Degrees of Freedom
All six joints of the CR3AS achieve wide angular ranges: J1, J2, J4, J5, and J6 rotate ±360°, while J3 covers ±155° — enabling complex articulated paths without repositioning the robot base. Maximum linear speed reaches 2 m/s with joint speeds of 180°/s on J1/J2 and 223°/s on J3 through J6, delivering cycle times that keep pace with demanding production throughput. A repeatability of ±0.02 mm ensures consistent, high-quality output over millions of cycles.
Industrial-Grade Build
Constructed from aluminum alloy and ABS plastic, the CR3AS carries an IP54 ingress protection rating — shielding internals from dust and water splash in real shop-floor conditions. Operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C covers the vast majority of global manufacturing environments.
Open Connectivity for Easy Integration
The CR3AS controller provides 16 DI and 16 DO/DI digital channels, 2 AI/AO analogue channels, and 1 ABZ incremental encoder input — offering substantial I/O headroom for fixtures, sensors, and end-of-arm tooling. Communication protocols include TCP/IP, Modbus, and Wi-Fi, while end-effector I/O supports 2 DI/DO/AI interfaces over RS485, making integration straightforward for PLCs, vision systems, and third-party peripherals. The robot is powered at 48V DC and consumes a modest 120W rated power.
Flexible Deployment
Available in AC Edition (Standard) and DC Edition (Mobile), the CR3AS adapts to fixed-cell and mobile cart deployments. The DC edition suits AGV-mounted or trolley-based automation, enabling flexible manufacturing cells that move with production demand.
Versatile Across Eight Application Scenarios
From assembly and bin picking to gluing, insertion, welding, transporting, palletizing, and loading/unloading — the CR3AS covers the full breadth of light industrial automation. Its SafeSkin sensor layer makes it especially suited to collaborative cells where a human operator and robot share the same workspace simultaneously, reducing the need for physical guarding while maintaining the highest level of operational safety. Whether deployed in electronics manufacturing, medical device assembly, or food-adjacent packaging, the CR3AS delivers the precision, safety, and connectivity modern factories demand.

DOBOT CR3AS — SafeSkin Collaborative Robot Overview
Frequently Asked Questions
SafeSkin is a proximity and contact sensing system installed on the CR3AS robot. It detects human bodies, metals, and liquids within a 5 to 15 cm range around the arm's J4, J5, and J6 joints. When an object enters this zone, the robot executes an emergency stop within 0.1 seconds — before physical contact — enabling safe human-robot collaboration without heavy physical guarding.
The CR3AS carries a maximum payload of 3 kg and achieves a maximum reach of 795 mm, with a working radius of 620 mm. This combination makes it suitable for compact pick-and-place, assembly, and insertion tasks in space-constrained cells.
The CR3AS controller supports TCP/IP, Modbus, and Wi-Fi for network connectivity. The end-effector interface communicates via RS485. These protocols allow integration with most modern PLCs, SCADA systems, and vision platforms used in industrial automation.
Yes. The CR3AS is offered in two editions: the AC Edition (Standard) for fixed-cell installations powered from mains, and the DC Edition (Mobile) designed for use on autonomous mobile robots or cobot trolleys where a DC power source is available. Both editions share identical robot arm specifications.
The CR3AS is suited to light industrial environments including electronics manufacturing, precision assembly, medical device production, food-adjacent packaging, and general factory automation. Its eight verified application scenarios are: Assembly, Bin Picking, Gluing, Insertion, Loading and Unloading, Palletizing, Transporting, and Welding.
