The two companies that matter in 360 cameras each launched a flagship inside four weeks. One of them you can buy in India today. The other one, as of this writing, you cannot.
That single fact does more to settle this comparison than any spec on either sheet — but not in the way you’d expect, and not for every buyer. Here is the honest version.
Two flagships in four weeks: what launched and when
Insta360 X6 went on sale globally on 12 August 2026 and launched in India two days later, on 14 August. Indian pricing came straight from Insta360 India: ₹81,990 for the Standard bundle, ₹92,990 for Essentials, ₹99,990 for the Motorcycle bundle.
DJI Osmo 360 II launched in China on 13 August, then had its global launch at IFA Berlin on 3 September 2026, going on sale 15 September. Announced pricing: £509 / £639 in the UK and from €589 / €739 in the EU, for the Standard and Adventure combos. It is not sold in the United States.
As of publication there is no announced India launch date and no announced India price for the Osmo 360 II. If DJI India has announced by the time this goes up, rewrite this section, section 3 and the table. Do not estimate a rupee price by converting the UK or EU figure — that is not how DJI prices India.

In plain language:
- The Osmo 360 II wins on frame rate and storage. 8K/60 against 8K/50 is a real difference if you reframe a lot in post or shoot anything fast — and 105 GB of usable internal storage means no card management at all.
- The X6 wins on battery and water. 140 minutes against 100 at the same setting is not a rounding error; it is the difference between one battery covering a shoot and two. And 20 m without a case beats 10 m for anyone who swims, surfs or dives casually.
- Dynamic range is a tie at 14.5 stops. Ignore anyone presenting it as a differentiator.
- Dolby Vision is the X6’s genuine exclusive — but only matters if your delivery pipeline actually uses it. For most people it doesn’t.
Neither of these is a bad camera. On specs alone, this is close.
The India question: one is here, one isn’t
This is where it stops being close.
The X6 has been on sale in India since August, with rupee pricing, local warranty and local service. The Osmo 360 II has no announced India date.
You can import one. Before you do, understand what you are accepting: customs duty and GST on arrival, a warranty that may not be honoured by DJI’s Indian service network, and a repair that means shipping the camera out of the country. On a camera in this price bracket, with two exposed replaceable lenses that people genuinely do scratch, that is a real risk rather than a theoretical one.
Confirm DJI India’s current position on servicing grey-market units before stating it as fact. Keep the wording to what we can stand behind.

The option nobody’s talking about: the original Osmo 360
Here is the part that gets left out of every comparison of these two cameras.
The DJI Osmo 360 — the first one — is in stock at XBOOM right now at ₹51,599 for the and ₹59,999 for the . That is roughly ₹30,000 less than the X6, for a camera that shoots 8K 360, has a 1-inch-equivalent sensor system, 10-bit colour and built-in storage.
Ask honestly what the extra ₹30,000 buys you. Against the original Osmo 360, the new flagships add: a higher 360 frame rate, more dynamic range, longer battery life, and — on the X6 — deeper waterproofing and Dolby Vision.
If you are shooting motorcycle POV every weekend or diving regularly, those are worth paying for. If you are a travel creator who posts reframed clips to Instagram, most of that upgrade will never reach your audience. The original Osmo 360 is the value pick in this category in India by a clear margin, and it is available today.

Which one for which buyer
Motorcycle vloggers → Insta360 X6, Motorcycle bundle. Not because the imaging is better, but because the ecosystem is built for you: the Heavy Duty Clamp, the hidden engine mic that cuts wind noise, the speed dashboard overlay, the auto-looping dashcam mode. And 140 minutes of battery is what a long ride actually needs.
Divers and water sports → Insta360 X6. 20 m without a case against 10 m, and 60 m with the Dive Case Pro against 50 m. On water, the X6 simply goes deeper with less kit.
Travel and everyday creators → the original DJI Osmo 360, at ₹51,599. Unless you have a specific reason to need 8K/60 or Dolby Vision, the ₹30,000 saved buys a lot of trip.
Drone pilots already in the DJI ecosystem → wait for the Osmo 360 II, or buy the original Osmo 360 now. If your footage already runs through DJI’s editing tools and your batteries, mics and mounts are DJI, staying in the ecosystem has real day-to-day value. But do not import the II to get there.
Anyone who needs 8K/60 specifically → Osmo 360 II, and you will have to wait. It is the only camera here that shoots it.
Buy now or wait?
Buy the X6 now if you are a rider or a diver, or if you need a flagship 360 camera this month with a local warranty. It is the best 360 camera on sale in India today, and that is not a close call while the II is unavailable.
Buy the original Osmo 360 now if you are price-sensitive or shoot mainly for social. It is the value pick in the category and nothing about the new launches changes that.
Wait if you are deep in the DJI ecosystem, want 8K/60, and can live without a 360 camera for a while. The Osmo 360 II is coming — DJI has not skipped India on a product like this before.
Do not import. The saving does not cover the warranty risk on a camera with exposed replaceable lenses.
