Drone Rental Cost in India 2026: Real Day Rates

Drone Rental Cost in India 2026: Real Day Rates

Drone Rental costs in India in 2026 vary widely depending on the drone type, camera capabilities, flight duration, operator requirements, and application. Consumer and camera drones can be rented for short shoots at relatively affordable daily rates, while enterprise-grade drones used for mapping, surveying, inspection, agriculture, and industrial applications can have higher Drone Rental rates. Premium cinema drones and specialized waterproof or heavy-lift platforms may also cost more due to their advanced sensors, payload capacity, and operational capabilities.

When comparing Drone Rental prices in India, remember that the advertised daily rate may not represent the complete cost. Your final rental price may also include a certified drone pilot, transportation, batteries, insurance, permits or compliance requirements, additional flight days, and specialized payloads such as thermal, LiDAR, or multispectral cameras. For an accurate 2026 Drone Rental Cost, compare the complete rental package based on your specific project and application rather than choosing a drone solely by its daily rate.

So here are the actual rates.

Day rates by drone class

Class Typical drone
Consumer Mini / Neo class
Prosumer Air / Mavic class
Cinema Mavic 4 Pro / Inspire class
Enterprise Matrice class
Thermal M30T / Mavic 3T
Survey / RTK RTK-equipped

Rates as of date. GST extra / inclusive — which.

For context on what the equivalent purchase costs: a Mini 4 Pro is ₹81,000, an Air 3S Fly More Combo is ₹1,76,999, and a Mavic 4 Pro Fly More Combo is ₹2,99,999. Those figures matter for the break-even calculation below.

rentbuyWhat’s included — and what isn’t

The rate is rarely just the aircraft. Check each of these before you book, with us or anyone else:

Usually included: the aircraft, controller, and a set of batteries. [how many batteries come as standard.]

Sometimes extra: ND filters, spare propellers, a second controller, extended batteries, memory cards, a carry case.

Almost always separate: insurance and the damage deposit.

Never included: your airspace permissions. Site clearance is the renter’s responsibility, not the rental company’s.

With or without a pilot?

Two different products, and the difference is bigger than the price gap suggests.

Dry hire — you take the drone, you fly it. Cheaper. Requires that you’re legally allowed to fly it, which for commercial work means a remote pilot certificate.

Wet hire — a certified pilot comes with the drone. More expensive, and for most commercial shoots it’s the only lawful option unless someone on your team is certified.

The rule of thumb: if the footage is being paid for, you need a certified pilot. If it’s personal, dry hire is usually fine.

Weekly and monthly rates

Most people don’t know these exist, and they change the maths considerably.

A production running a two-week shoot, or a survey team on a month-long project, should never be paying day rate × 14. Weekly and monthly rates typically carry a substantial discount.

Rent or buy? The break-even

The honest calculation.

Renting makes sense when the drone sits idle most of the year. Buying makes sense past a certain number of shooting days — and that crossover is easy to work out:

Break-even days per year = purchase price ÷ day rate

At a ₹1,76,999 Air 3S and a day rate of ₹R, you break even at 176,999 ÷ R days of use per year. Fill in your own R and the answer usually surprises people in one direction or the other.

Three things the raw calculation misses, all favouring rental:

  • Depreciation. A drone you own loses value every year whether it flies or not.
  • Obsolescence. This category moves fast. A rented drone is always current.
  • Maintenance and battery replacement. Batteries have a finite cycle life and are a real cost of ownership.

And one favouring purchase: availability. A rented drone has to be booked. An owned one is in the boot of your car when a client calls on a Friday afternoon.

If you’re leaning towards buying, the best drone by budget guide covers what each bracket gets you.

What you need to provide

  • Photo ID and address proof [exactly what’s accepted]
  • A refundable damage deposit [amount by drone class]
  • Site permissions for wherever you’re flying
  • Pilot certification if you’re dry-hiring for commercial work
