What makes it work
Unitree G1 EDU-U12 Humanoid Robot
The Unitree G1 EDU-U12 is the five-finger dexterous hand variant of the G1 EDU research and education humanoid series. Built on the full G1 EDU platform, it adds dual BrainCo Revo 2 Touch five-finger hands — 6 DOF each — to the upgraded 7-DOF arms, 3-axis waist, and 100 TOPS onboard AI expansion dock. The result is a 35-degree-of-freedom bipedal humanoid platform combining agile whole-body locomotion with five-finger manipulation capability, backed by full high- and low-level secondary development support.
With a 120 N·m knee joint torque, 3 kg arm payload, Intel RealSense D435i depth camera, LIVOX-MID360 3D LiDAR, and an 18-month warranty covering the entire device, the G1 EDU-U12 is built for universities, AI research labs, and engineering teams that need a credible, fully programmable humanoid development platform.

What Makes the G1 EDU-U12 Stand Out
Revo 2 Touch Five-Finger Hands with Tactile
Two BrainCo Revo 2 Touch five-finger dexterous hands — 6 DOF each — with integrated tactile sensors for contact detection, pressure mapping, slip sensing, and proximity. Five-finger structure plus tactile feedback for complete manipulation awareness.
Five-Finger Biomimetic Grasping
The Revo 2 Touch's five-finger structure enables precision pinch, lateral grip, power grip, and a wide range of intermediate configurations — more closely approximating the functional range of the human hand than five-finger designs.
35 Total DOF — Body + Revo 2 Touch Hands
23 body DOF (5 per arm × 2, 6 per leg × 2, 1 waist) plus 6 DOF per Revo 2 Touch hand gives 35 total joint motors — whole-body bipedal locomotion combined with five-finger dexterous manipulation.
100 TOPS Built-In AI Expansion Dock
Onboard 100 TOPS expansion dock powers AI algorithm development and secondary development directly on the robot — supporting high- and low-level SDK access across all 35 DOF.
120 N·m Knee Torque — 3 kg Arm Load
Upgraded knee joint torque (120 N·m vs 90 N·m on G1 standard) and 3 kg arm payload (vs 2 kg) give the G1 EDU-U12 the strength needed for dynamic motion and heavier manipulation tasks.
Full Secondary Development
High- and low-level secondary development supported across all 35 DOF — Isaac SIM compatible, robot models and simulation interfaces provided, comprehensive development manuals and dedicated technical support included.
Revo 2 Touch Hands — 35 Total Degrees of Freedom
The G1 EDU-U12 is equipped with two BrainCo Revo 2 Touch five-finger dexterous hands, each providing 6 degrees of freedom — bringing the complete device to 35 total joint motors (29 body DOF plus 6 per hand). The five-finger form factor enables a broad range of grasping configurations more closely approximating the functional range of the human hand. Each hand includes a wrist-mounted RGB camera for close-range visual feedback during manipulation tasks. Tactile sensors are not included in this Revo 2 Touch configuration.
Both hands are fully accessible via the G1 EDU-U12's secondary development interfaces, enabling researchers to develop and deploy custom manipulation algorithms across the full 35-DOF kinematic chain.
7-DOF Arms and 3-Axis Waist for Whole-Body Motion
Both arms on the G1 EDU-U12 are upgraded from 5 to 7 degrees of freedom — adding wrist pitch and yaw (±92.5° each) to the existing shoulder and elbow articulation. This expanded arm range enables more natural, human-like reach patterns and unlocks manipulation tasks that require precise wrist orientation.
The waist is upgraded from 1 to 3 degrees of freedom (Z±155°, X±30°, Y±30°), enabling full torso rotation and lean — the whole-body coordinated motion that is essential for balance compensation during manipulation and for natural human-robot interaction research.
Built-In Expansion Dock — On-Robot AI Development
The G1 EDU-U12 includes a built-in expansion dock delivering 100 TOPS of onboard AI computing power — enabling AI algorithm development, perception models, and reinforcement learning pipelines to run directly on the robot. This on-robot compute layer works alongside the 8-core base CPU, removing dependency on external compute servers for most development tasks — supporting AI pipelines across all 35 DOF including the Revo 2 Touch hands.
For applications requiring higher throughput, optional high-power computing modules — including Orin-class processors — are also available, providing a scalable compute architecture that grows with the complexity of the research task.
Sees, Hears, and Reacts to Its Environment
The G1 EDU-U12 carries an Intel RealSense D435i depth camera and a LIVOX-MID360 3D LiDAR for 360° spatial awareness and real-time depth mapping — providing the perceptual foundation for SLAM, navigation, and scene-aware manipulation research. A 4-microphone array with noise and echo cancellation, plus a stereo 5W speaker, enable clear audio interaction in real-world environments.
All of this sensor data feeds into the 100 TOPS onboard expansion dock alongside the 8-core CPU, enabling researchers to build and deploy multimodal perception-action pipelines directly on the robot hardware.
High- and Low-Level APIs Across All 35 DOF
The G1 EDU-U12 supports full secondary development — high-level and low-level programming interfaces giving direct access to joint control, sensor data streams, and SDK integration across all 35 degrees of freedom including the Revo 2 Touch hands. Robot models and simulation interfaces are provided, with compatibility for Isaac SIM and other standard robotics simulation environments.
Comprehensive development manuals, excellent technical support services, and active ecosystem support are included — providing the documentation and community backing that universities and research institutions require for long-duration development programmes.
Where the G1 EDU-U12 Gets Put to Work
35 DOF, Revo 2 Touch tactile five-finger hands, 100 TOPS AI, and full secondary development make the G1 EDU-U12 suited for advanced manipulation research and AI development.
