And it wins on serviceability, because more people know how to fix them.

The adjustable aperture
A practical, unglamorous advantage: the EVO II Pro’s lens has a mechanically adjustable f/2.8–f/11 aperture, controllable in flight. Most competing drones at this level are fixed-aperture and expect you to solve exposure with ND filters. For inspection work in changing light, that’s a real workflow difference.
When Skydio makes more sense
Skydio’s argument is autonomy, not cameras.

What you give up
The honest cost of switching, stated plainly.
Ecosystem. Fewer accessories, fewer third-party mounts, fewer payload options.
Accessory availability. A DJI battery is on a shelf in Bengaluru. An Autel battery may be a lead-time item. On a shoot or an inspection schedule, that’s a real operational risk.
App maturity. DJI’s software is more polished and better documented. Autel’s has improved a lot and is entirely workable, but you’ll notice.

If you’re specifying drones for a government department, a PSU, a defence-adjacent contractor or an enterprise with a restricted-vendor policy, the sequence is:
- Establish what your policy actually requires — NDAA compliance, country-of-origin restriction, data-residency requirement, or a named-vendor exclusion. These are different things and they’re often confused.
- Confirm which specific models meet it — compliance is per-model, not per-brand.
